I started going to a chiropractor over 20 years ago. I was referred by a friend because of my serious back pain as a result of driving all day long and lifting heavy glass. The doctor cracked my back and I felt instant relief. I thought I had serious back trouble and after a few visits I was like new.

I went for years without going back to the chiropractor because I would have my wife crack my spine now and then when needed. That's until recently when I ignored the signs and was in serious pain and bedridden for a couple of weeks. My wife warned me to go see the chiropractor but I didn't listen.

My chiropractor gradually got me back on my feet. I am fine now visiting her once a month. My wife had some serious back trouble for a while and she was treated successfully. She goes back once every few months now or when needed and it only costs her $30 per visit.

There is a poster in the chiropractor's office that says that the two most vital organs in your body are encased in bone. And they are your brain and your spinal cord.

There is literature in the office that tells the benefits of going to a chiropractor. Things like it prevents colds and the flu and many other illnesses. If there was ever a rating for natural cures, going to the chiropractor has to be at the top of the list. Yeah, it's that good.

Older people that get hearing loss will automatically compensate for it by reading lips. Whether they realize that they do it or not they do seem to learn to read lips.

Even as someone who does not suffer from hearing loss (at least not yet), I find that when talking with someone who has a foreign accent and is hard to understand, that by keeping face to face contact with them I can understand them better.

So it seems natural that someone who suffers from hearing loss will automatically study your lips as you speak to them. So if you see someone doing this at a rock concert, they have either blown their ears out already or they are really trying to listen to you.

Do you need to improve your eyesight? Have you noticed those ads on TV or the radio that say you can improve your eyesight naturally doing eye exercises?

For two hundred plus dollars they send you a course or set of videos and maybe even a work book. I don't know if they work or not to improve your eyesight but anything is possible right.

I do know that years ago from being in Amway there was a certain highly successful distributor that said you can improve your eyesight through positive thinking.

He said he had really poor vision and wore eyeglasses as thick as coke bottles. He said for 21 days he meditated on 20/20 vision and he improved his eyesight where he didn't even need eyeglasses any more.

Can you improve your eyesight through eye exercises or PMA (positive mental attitude)? I say yes because your brain is a master chemist. And your eyes stay focused because of muscles that wrap around the eye shape it and bring it into proper focus.

Is faith healing real? Yes it is. If you truly believe, you can be healed of anything. Jesus went about healing the sick and so did his disciples.

He even said that we through Him we would do even greater works than He did in His ministry. The key words here are "through Him".

Over the years, faith healing has gotten a bad rap because of people trying to cash in on it. It's almost become a taboo set of words. Tent shows and TV shows come to mind when we think faith healing.

The good thing though is that God never changes. Jesus said that we (his disciples if we are saved and follow Him) would do greater works than He did. Since God doesn't lie or change, it seems to me that we (if we are are saved and His disciples because we follow Him) could even raise the dead as well as heal the sick if need be.

I have heard of people having cancer and having church members praying for them and their tests come back negative. A young missionary e-mailed all the churches that supported his ministry once because he was sick and could not get better. Thousands of church members prayed for him and he was healed immediately.

I myself having to stay home on a Sunday night from church once because of an ear ache and fever that came right back as soon as my medication ran out, I started walking around the living room speaking out a scripture verse and immediately I felt the Holy Spirit and cried. I laid back down on the couch knowing that I was healed and after a day I was completely better.

I suffered from acid reflux for years. Once because of deciding to start giving to missions again (supporting missionary families who spread the Gospel in various parts of the world) I was healed from my acid reflux disease. I once in a great while get it now, but it is rare.

The greatest faith healer of all times is Jesus Christ. He is also called the Great Physician because he heals not only the body but the soul as well. "If the Son of Man shall set you free you shall be free indeed" the Bible says.

Acid reflux medication should only be a temporary fix. The permanent fix should come from a natural cure, not one that involves taking man-made chemicals for life.

Staying away from foods that are full of preservatives or are spicy or are hard to break down in the stomach seems to be a better approach than using acid reflux medication.

Most people think that elevating the bed will help you not get acid reflux but I have had it sleeping in my easy chair.

I say that the best acid reflux medication is to eat healthier more natural foods that are easy to break down. Drink more fruit juices. Especially at night. And when it comes to eating, do it in moderation. Don't over-indulge.

If you are out at a restaurant and don't want to waste your meal, take it home with you. Eat smaller more frequent meals even. This may help to raise your metabolism which in turn may help you digest your food faster.

The best acid reflux medication has got to be a natural medication. Something that's basically free and that you can live with for life. Something that will actually be good for you.

Cod liver oil seems to be promoted as the the top natural cure and disease-prevention miracle fountain of youth. Whenever I hear about it I hear nothing but awesome things.

Some reports say there is too much vitamin A and traces of PCB in cod liver oil and will recommend other fish oils instead. After doing a bit of research I think I am confused.

I would like to get back to the cod liver oil. I have been taking fish oil pills from GNC on a daily basis. Too much of anything is bad I guess.

When I read about the benefits of cod liver oil and then about the disadvantages from others I feel like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde.

Acid Refux can be very, very serious. So serous you are scared to lay down and go to sleep. One thing that may be of help is not to eat foods that are commecial in nature.

Things like snack cakes or store bought cookies. They seem to have a lot of preservatives in them that can be bad for you. Eat homemade cookies or cakes instead. Not junk food that sits on the shelf. I believe the chemicals or preservatives found in these foods can bring on acid reflux symptoms.

Pork may also be another culprit. Drinking fruit juices at night before bedtime instead of eating food late at night may help to prevent acid reflux as well.

One of the oldest and best weight loss programs is fasting. Although I don't practice what I preach, it is a winning way to lose weight. I found that if I took one day a week and didn't eat food - just drank fruit juice all day that I not only lost weight fast (maybe that's why they call it a fast) I curbed my appetite for the rest of the week.

The benefits from this is that you not only lose weight, you make it so your system isn't hungry all the time. I like to think of it as a dog on a choker chain. You fast on a certain day and don't eat anything. You just drink fruit juices. The next day you eat breakfast (break the fast) and continue on normal all week.

I found that this significantly reduced my hunger cravings all week, but by the end of the week they started coming back. So it's like walking the dog. When he begins to pull, you give him a slight tug to keep him in line walking with you - not pulling you. With fasting when your stomach starts to control you, you simply go on a fast to get your appetite back into submission.

You can do a 24-hour fast or a "sun up" to "sun down" type of fast. Drinking fruit juice is good because it gives you energy without starving to death, yet it removes your dependency on large quantities of regular food. That's my weight loss story!

When it comes to staying healthy, moderation and longevity here is where most people including myself fail miserably - we love food and food loves us!

I'm on to a new plan that tricks the bodies fat burning hormones by eating different calories each day. Supposedly you can lose 9 pounds every 11 days.

It goes like this, your metabolism doesn't know how much food you'll eat tomorrow or the next day because those days have not happened yet. Therefore, your metabolism always burns calories based on your eating habits during the past few days — because it assumes that you'll continue to eat in the same general way.

I believe one of the best ways to live a long healthy life is to do everything in moderation. People tend to over-eat, drink too much, smoke too much, etc.

Years ago, I was always trying to quit smoking. My Grandfather said to me don't quit, just don't smoke. That didn't make much sense to me at the time, but when you think about all those people in the world who are trying to quit, why not learn to cut back instead?

I mean, why not just train yourself to smoke only the cigarettes that you really enjoy? I worked with a red-neck mechanic once down in Florida that never smoked on the job until he completed a task. He would spend a few hours doing a repair job and when he was done he would light up a cigarette kind of like a reward for his hard work.

Why not eat only the foods that really taste good and do this with everything in life. It's like you are really trying to live life to it's fullest and enjoying the little things to their fullest instead of being a slave to them. I think this is a major key to longevity. It's called keeping life's pleasures pleasurable!
